ISLAMABAD - A parliamentary body yesterday recommended that all the chiefs and heads of political parties should strengthen their political parties.
Maximum tickets should be given by the political parties to their women politicians in general elections, this was discussed in a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges which was held under the chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, MNA.
In the next assembly, the participants vowed that all political parties should ensure maximum participation of their women parliamentarians in the committees.
On general seats, the political parties should give maximum chance to women, they said.
On question of privilege raised by MNA Shahida Rehmani regarding inaction of Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Karachi, Additional Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Karachi, and Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on her complaints regarding receiving of threatening calls on her telephone and mobile, the committee disposed of the question of privilege with the recommendations that necessary action should be taken against the arrested person as per law. The committee also directed that the Ministry of Interior should have a joint meeting with PTA and FIA and a proper mechanism should be prepared in this regard. The committee also directed that home secretary, Sindh and IGP Sindh should provide at least two gunmen and two guards to the members of the parliament and report to the committee within 15 days.
The committee confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 10-2-2021; On the Amendments moved by MNA Shazia Marri in Rules 200(1), 206, 208(1), 210, 212, 244(A)(2), 244(B) and 244(C)(2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007. The Committee disposed of the amendments.
