ISLAMABAD - No progress has so far been made to resolve the womens problems by the Womens Caucus of Pakistan (WCP) that was constituted about two and a half years ago for this purpose. According to details, the Caucus, headed by National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza, was established in 2008 with an aim to resolve the womens problems in consultation with the women Parliamentarians. However, neither any of the womens issues was pinpointed by this platform nor the website was lunched in this regard. Some women MNAs, on condition of anonymity, disclosed that a number of women issues were pinpointed during several meetings. However, no action was taken to resolve these issues, they added. The women caucuses are formed in many countries in order to resolve womens issues, while in Pakistan this platform has failed to deliver.
