RAWALPINDI - The Water Recovery Branch of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has reported a significant improvement in revenue collection for the fiscal year 2024-25, reaching Rs. 274 million, up from Rs. 260 million last year.
A key factor behind this increase has been the board’s efforts to address unassessed properties. Many property owners had obtained water connections from RCB without undergoing property tax assessment, avoiding payments.
A spokesman from RCB stated that the board suspended general charges on these properties and directed owners to submit their property documents for formal assessment as per the policy devised by the Military Lands and Cantonments (ML&C) Department.
As part of this initiative, RCB has assessed nearly 2,000 properties, assigned them Cantonment Board (CB) numbers, and issued revenue charges accordingly.
Properties under five marlas have been granted tax exemptions, and water bills are being issued separately. The measures aim to improve recovery rates and curb illegal water distribution.
