Rawalpindi-Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Javed Iqbal Sipra on Monday has issued notices to respondents in   a petition filed for registration of case against deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail, head warder and others, allegedly involved in  alleged torturing  and sexually harassing  a prisoner.

According to details, a citizen namely Abdul Wajid,   resident of Azad Kashmir, filed a petition through his lawyer  under section 22-A of CrPC  for registration of case against jail officials while making City Police Officer Rawalpindi and  In charge Adiala police post  as respondent. He pleaded before the court that he is a nominated accused in a case, and   a prisoner in Adiala Jail.

He accused   Jail Head Warder Iqbal of harassing him sexually and blackmailing inside the prison on which he lodged a complaint against him with deputy superintendent. However, the deputy superintendent neither had initiated any action against Iqbal nor ordered an inquiry into the complaint. He alleged that taking advantage of laxity and negligence of the officer, the head warder placed him under mental and physical torture. He argued that he also approached trial court for his physical examination and treatment on which once again the warder along with caretaker jail Ikram and Shahzeb placed him under severe torture. “I have been detained illegally in a high security barrack where   terrorists are kept,” he told the judge in the petition.

The inmate also alleged that the head warder also roped him in a fake drugs case on May 28, 2022 and beat him mercilessly. He said he also approached a court of law and the judge ordered CPO to initiate legal action against the accused. Nonetheless, the police have spared the accused and had not registered any case against them, the petitioner said. He pleaded with the ADSJ to order police to register a case against the accused and to provide him with justice. The court sought reply from the respondents by November 14, 2022.
