MULTAN    -   Additional Inspector General Police (AIGP) South Punjab Dr Ehsan Sadiq on Monday sought record of police employees having links with criminal ele­ments including drug dealers and others to initiate action against them.

AIGP spokesperson said that the south Punjab police chief has decided to purge police de­partment of officials patronizing crime dens including narcotics, are drug addicts and involved in criminal activities. 

He said that AIGP has directed regional police officers (RPOs), CPO Multan, district police offi­cers to compile record of police officials who do not enjoy good reputation and have links with crime dens and sought report within a day.

Sadiq said that strict action would be taken against police officials found to be involved in crimes or having links with criminal elements.


Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) South Punjab Dr Ehsan Sadiq on Monday sought inquiry report on the suicide of an accused in police custody at Chub Kalan Police Station in Khanewal district.

Taking action on the alleged suicide of an accused in police custody on September 11, the Additional IGP deputed SP Cantt Hassan Afzal as inquiry officer and directed him to submit a detailed inquiry report within a week.

It is pertinent to mention here that accused Muhammad Siddique was arrested by Chub Kalan Police in case number 377/22 registered against him under section 458/380. The accused attempted to commit suicide in the police lock-up. He was rushed to the hospital but he took his last breath on the way. He said strict action would be taken against the officials in­volved in negligence after the inquiry report.


Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) police on Monday claimed to have arrested three dacoits and recovered illegal weapons from their possession. 

PHP sub-inspector Rizwan Bhatti said that ASI Zaheer Ab­bas of Patrolling Post Bucheki along with his team intercepted three suspects riding a motor­cycle. All the three suspects were wanted by the police in a number of dacoity, robbery and other cases. 

The police arrested the ac­cused identified as Ali Hasan, Muhammad Shahid and Ajmal Khan and recovered illicit weap­ons and other items from their possession. Further investiga­tion was underway.
