islamabad - Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Sajid Kiani has directed all police officials to ensure effective policing measures in the city.
He was presiding over a meeting held here yesterday to review the crime prevention measures in the city. The meeting was attended by all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs. The SSP ordered for strict patrolling and vigilance to ensure effective policing and special crackdown against the criminal elements.
He ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature including auto-theft, murder, attempt-to-murder, dacoities and terror activities.
He ordered for maintaining tight security around all educational institutions, media houses and other important points. The SSP asked all SHOs to involve security guards in their respective areas to monitor the activities of suspects and inform Rescue 15 or local police immediately after observing such elements.
He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He said those police officials responsible for delaying registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.
The SSP checked the performance of every police station and issued directions to improve measures to combat crime effectively. He said that effective policing measures are imperative to curb activities of anti-social elements.
While reviewing the performance of SHOs, the SSP said that disciplinary action would be taken against the SHOs having sluggish attitude. He said that an effective strategy is vital to control crime and also ordered to adopt professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis. He also stressed for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases.
Furthermore, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has busted three gangs of criminals involved in snatching purses from women, pick-pocketing and fraudulent activities, a police spokesman said.
Two criminals Atif Ali alias Aati, a resident of Babar Colony Airport, and Zohaib alias Zaibi, a resident of Rawalpindi, confessed to snatch purse of Saadia Awan, Assistant Director Foreign Office, from Jinnah Super Market and MPA Surriya Nasim from F-10 Markaz.
Likewise, they committed similar offenses in Bahria Town Rawalpindi and F-10 Markaz and snatched purses from Kiran Riaz and Zaib Ali respectively.
Meanwhile, two fraudsters Rauf Aslam and Usman Aslam were also apprehend for fake business deals with the simpleton and giving them bogus cheques.
