ISLAMABAD - Following the orders of Islamabad High Court, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority on Wednesday issued directives to all private satellite TV channels and FM Radio stations, prohibiting appearance of Aamir Liaquat Hussain in any capacity.
A statement issued by the PEMRA here said that the licensees had been directed that Aamir Liaquat would not appear in any talk show, news or current affairs programme, shows, play, promos, audio/videos, beepers and advertisements with immediate effect till next date of hearing, being January 10, 2018.
In case of any violation, the PEMRA shall proceed against the channel (s) or programme (s) under the PEMRA Ordinance 2002, to comply with the orders of the Islamabad High Court.
According to reports, Aamir Liaquat joined a private TV channel on Tuesday.
Earlier, the court banned Aamir Liaqat till next date of hearing after hearing a writ petition seeking lifetime ban on the anchorperson for using electronic and social media for his hate speech and justifying violence.
A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui conducted the hearing and issued notices to the respondents seeking parawise comments in this matter from them.
