LAHORE (APP) - Regional Tax Office, Lahore upto the month of January 2010 has recorded an increase in collection of income tax, sales tax and federal excise over the last year. During the preceding year collection in income tax was recorded at Rs 21,734 (M) whereas collection upto January,2010 is made to the tune of Rs 23,600 (M). This shows an increase of Rs 1,866 (M) i.e. 9pc over the last years collection. According to RTO office, collection under sales tax and federal excise, after the merger of Domestic Taxes as Inland Revenue, has also shown increase over the last year for the same period. Sales tax collection upto January, 2009 was at Rs 5,891 (M) whereas this collection upto January, 2010 stands at Rs 6,653 (M), showing an increase of 13pc. Federal excise collection upto January 2009 was Rs 562 (M) whereas this collection upto January, 2010 stands at Rs 604(M), thus showing an increase of 7pc. A comparison of aggregate figure of Rs.30,857(M) for all three taxes upto January, 2010 with the collection of Rs 28,187 (M) for preceding year upto January, 2009 reflects a healthy increase of 9pc. Meanwhile, Khawaja Shaukat Ali, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Lahore has issued instructions to the field formations to make all out efforrts to achieve the budgetary target fixed for the current financial year under all heads.
