ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday said legal fraternity is an important segment of the society and judicial system in the country. He was addressing a delegation of Abbottabad District Bar Association, consisting of its President Tahir Faraz Abbasi, more than 20 executive members and office bearers, which called on him. Legal fraternity significance cannot be denied as without their assistance and active participation, the goal of speedy justice to litigants at their door steps cannot be fulfilled, the Chief Justice said. Appreciating the efforts and struggle of Abbottabad Bar during Lawyers Movement the Chief Justice said that the bar struggled hard to support the judiciary for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. Due to the struggle of lawyers fraternity the independent judiciary was restored and this struggle is unprecedented in the judicial history of the world, he said and added, the Abbottabad bar is experienced, organised and civilised bar which played active role. Commenting on the National Judicial Policy, the Chief Justice said that the purpose of the policy is to provide expeditious and inexpensive justice to litigants and to train youngster in the field of law by appointing them local commissioners to record the evidence in the cases.
