Tabling of presidential reference in NA welcomed


AHMEDPUR EAST - Bahawalpur National Awami Party Chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi has lauded the tabling of Presidential Reference in National Assembly for the constitution of 14 members Parliamentary Commission for the restoration of former provincial status of Bahawalpur and termed it timely and right step by President Asif Zardai. He expressed the views by him while talking to a group of newsmen at Sadiq Garh Palace Dera Nawab Sahib here on Thursday.
BNAP Central Secretary General Mian Ilyas Ayaz and Additional Secretary Mian Rafatur Rehman were also present on the occasion. He thanked President Zardari for taking notice of the delay in the establishment of Parliamentary Commission and hoped that Parliamentary Commission would submit its recommendations for the implementation of Presidential Reference in its true letter and spirit.
The unanimously passed resolution of the Punjab Assembly will be incorporated in the Parliamentary Commission report for onwards submission to the Prime Minister, he said.
To a query, Nawab Salahuddin categorically stated that the inhabitants of Bahawalpur had no objection to the creation of South Punjab or Multan provinces but Bahawalpur would never become its part.
“We have a separate identity since hundreds of years and we would never compromise on it,” he cautioned.
Nawab Salahuddin vowed to continue his war against injustices committed with 12.5 million Bahawaluri people during the last 40 years. The era of looters and plunderers have gone and now the sun of development and prosperity will rise on Bahawalpuries very soon, the BNAP Chief claimed.
Meanwhile, BNAP President Farooq Azam Malik, Secretary General Mian Ilyas Ayaz, Additional Secretary Mian Rafatur Rehman, Secretary Information Javed Khan Duletzai and local BNAP leaders Jan Mohammad Qureshi, Mohammad Akhter Soomro, Sardar Javed Khan Khakwani and Hafiz Shahid also welcomed the presentation of Presidential Reference in the National Assembly and greeted Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi on his continued struggle for the rights of Bahawalpuri masses. The BNAP leaders also thanked President Asif Zardari for the acceptance of people’s demand.
