LAHORE The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) is holding a soft launching of Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate on Saturday (today). The PIEDMC has initiated the development work at the new industrial estate of Southern Punjab city of Rahim Yar Khan. In this regard the company has made the payment of Rs240 million for land acquisition. The Company has embarked upon a programme to launch a chain of industrial estates throughout the province. The first one to come on ground is in Southern Punjab, at Rahim Yar Khan. PIEDMC has already acquired 455 acres of land where fencing has been completed in order to build international standard infrastructure like roads, drainage, sewerage, horticulture, water, gas and electricity etc. The company is determined to follow standards of excellence as exhibited at Sundar Industrial Estate, Lahore. The Bahawalpur High Court had dismissed a petition filed by a few land owners to stop work on the proposed site of Rahim Yar Khan industrial Estate. Rahim Yar Khan is an important district as it is situated at the junction of three provinces. According to an initial estimate, about 20,000 job opportunities will be created directly, with the setting up of more than 300 medium and large industrial units.
