ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has warned that the tension between two nuclear powers is threat to peace in the region.
In an interview on Monday, Khawaja Asif urged the world community to take notice of Indian provocations against Pakistan as any escalation of tension between the two nuclear armed neighbours could prove catastrophic for the whole region.
He said that over the last several months, India is heating up situations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary due to some internal compulsions. He also said that Pakistan is using diplomatic and international forums to highlight the Indian belligerence.
The defence minister expressed his concerns over the use of heavy weaponry by the Indian troops in the recent LoC firing. He said it is regrettable that extremist elements have come to power in India which could become a source of destruction not only for their own country but for the whole region.
He also said that Pakistan is responding to the Indian aggression in a befitting manner. He said the regional countries should be wary of the extremist tendencies of India.
