LAHORE     -   Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Tuesday approved the rehabilitation plan for flood victims of Punjab.

Chairing a meeting here, he said that canals, distributaries and water courses damaged due to floods, would be repaired on an emergency basis while roads and infrastructure from farms to markets would be reconstructed on a priority basis. Financial assistance would also be provided to the victims by estimating the flood-affected crops and other damages, he said.

The Senior Minister said that they had set priorities for the rehabilitation of the flood victims, adding that winter season was around the corner and the flood victims sitting in the open sky would be protected. The officers and officials doing well in the relief and rescue operations, would be encouraged, he assured.

Mian Aslam said that flood victims would be paid easily through Bank of Punjab and other partner banks. Similarly, he said, the provision of medical facilities to pregnant women in flood-affected areas would be taken seriously.

On this occasion, Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari said that government stood with the flood victims, no effort would be spared for their rehabilitation. DG PDMA said that the ongoing survey would be completed by September 27.

Provincial Minister Hasnain Bahadur Dreshk, MPAs Hashim Jawan Bakht, Javed Akhtar, Makhdoom Raza Hussain Bukhari and Moazzam Ali Khan Jatoi, the SMBR, administrative secretaries and others also attended the meeting.
