MCB Bank signs MoU with Ufone
ISLAMABAD (PR): MCB Bank Limited (MCB) has collaborated with Ufone to provide special offers and discounts to its customers during the auspicious occasion of Haj. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organizations in this regard at a ceremony held in Islamabad.
According to the MoU, Ufone shall offer a discount on its three exclusive products to all MCB customers during Haj.
The telecom operator agrees to offer its 3G enabled mobile handsets on a reduced price. Exclusive call discounts on prepaid and international roaming packages for Saudi Arabia shall also be provided.
The MoU was jointly signed by Farhan Baig, EVP, Business Head North - RBG, MCB Bank Limited and AsherYaqub Khan, Chief Commercial Officer at Ufone. Other senior executives from both the organizations were also present on the occasion.
“With this accord, MCB customers would be able to truly experience an extensive range of products, services and seamless connectivity at their best and that too on reduced prices” said Asher Yaqub, Chief Commercial Officer, Ufone.

Emirates NBD ‘s  money transfer platform in Pakistan
DUBAI (PR): Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, has announced the launch of its 60-second DirectRemit service to Pakistan. DirectRemit, a money transfer platform that is considered the fastest in the UAE, allows Emirates NBD customers to remit money to Pakistan within a minute with zero remittance fees.
The direct bank transfer service enables Emirates NBD customers to perform Pakistani Rupee remittances to Faysal Bank accounts in Pakistan in less than 60 seconds, and transfers to other Pakistani banks within one hour. Faysal Bank is a leading bank with a footprint of over 270 branches across 80 cities in Pakistan.
 Customers of Emirates NBD can avail DirectRemit service to Pakistan via online banking channels.

Money flows from the UAE are among the highest to Pakistan and other countries in South East Asia. According to recent World Bank estimates, Pakistan remittances amounted to US $17 billion from around the world.
The Direct Remit service is seen as a key component of Emirates NBD’s value proposition to its account holders. Since the launch of DirectRemit in 2014, the service has proven to be extremely successful, with an increasing number of the bank’s customers remitting money to India and Philippines via DirectRemit.

Pak officials trained in S Korea
LAHORE (PR): South Korea’s Saemaul Undong (The New Village Movement) was launched in 1970 by late President Gen Park Chung-hee to build rural economy and catalyze socio-economic development and welfare of the people. This integrated rural development plan has revamped and modernized the rural sector with miraculous changes in rural communities. It operates on diligence, self-help and cooperation and averse to any falseness, hypocrisy and vanity.  In view of Saemaul Undong role in Korea, the KOICA always concentrate on transferring its experiences to other developing/under developed countries including Pakistan. KOICA has dispatched 15 government officials including Secretary Mr. Dawood Muhammad and Additional Secretary Mr. Shahid Farid from Local Govt and Rural Development Department of Punjab. These officials were trained in Korea on New Village movement and rural development.
After their training in Korea, the Secretary Local Government, Punjab along with their team initiated an integrated rural development program in three districts (Chiniot, Lodhran and Bhawal Nagar) of Punjab. They have organized and utilized the local leadership after their capacity building and through formation of Village Development Committees (VDCs). Initially, the program focuses on Solid Waste Management, installation of biogas plant in the village, manual segregation of recyclables and non-usable waste, Capacity Building of 6 Village Development Committees, Laying of Sewerage System, sale of fertilizer for Agriculture, Rural employment through income generating activities, and development of IT villages. Around 300 households will be provided Biogas. The program is being implemented initially in six villages as a pilot model. The capital cost plus six months O&M to be funded by provincial government. After six months the local community has to bear the cost and recover the same from provincial government to support and monitor the performance. Rural development in Pakistan can be facilitated through the trio of entrepreneurship, physical & social infrastructures and capacity building of the village people. The similar project are being initiated in Attock, Gujranwala and hundreds of rural farmers are trained in Rural Development Academy in Gujrat.
This is a great success story Republic of Korea, KOICA and Punjab government Pakistan as the training is being used for improving and welfare of rural societies and reducing poverty. Pakistan and South Korea sharing of experiences will deliver to ensure sustainable rural development.

‘The Educators’ holds event
LAHORE (PR): The Educators’ 11th Annual Speech and Debate Contest was held at Beaconhouse Newlands the other day. After a series of rounds at cluster and regional levels, the winning participants competed at the national level. Primary Urdu and English speeches as well as secondary English and Urdu debates were delivered by students.
Chief guest Arif Nizami and the guest of honour Ali Raza (Project Director- ‘THE EDUCATORS’) presented winners with trophies and certificates. Dr Sajjad Naseer, Asim Ali Bukhari and Barrister Husnain Chaudhry graced the event as the honourable judges.
The Educators’ Annual Speech and Debate Contest has been an annual event since the past 10 years. Young speakers from ‘The Educators’ branches across the country participate in the contest.

 JS Bank cricket tournament
KARACHI (PR): The JS Bank Chairman’s Cricket Tournament 2015 final was a spectacular T-20 night fixture played between JS Knights and JS Lions, which concluded on 10th of April, 2015. The tournament commenced on 8th April with a total of 15 matches being played between 8 teams of JS Bank employees. The teams represented the presence of JS Bank from across the country.
The tournament winning team JS Knights won the final by over 50 runs and remained unbeaten during the tournament. In a closing ceremony attended by a large number of JS Bank employees along with their families, cash awards and trophies were distributed by Jahangir Siddiqui, Chairman JS Bank and Khalid Imran, President JS Bank to the winning team JS Knights and to the runners-up team JS Lions. JS Bank is also sponsoring the first ever “JS Bank Quaid-e -Azam Trophy” in the 1st week of May.

Tetra Pak reports growth despite a ‘challenging year’
KARACHI (PR): A further softening of global GDP and rising competition within the liquid food packaging sector made 2014 a challenging year for Tetra Pak. Despite this, the company achieved net sales of €10.9 billion, up 1.7 per cent from 2013, with strong growth in capital equipment and technical sales helping to offset a disappointing year for packaging material.
“Against the backdrop of a tough year, with slower packaging material growth than originally expected, we saw clear evidence that our business strategy is working. Capital Equipment sales reached almost €2 billion and Technical Sales topped €1 billion for the first time in the company’s history. Our processing business closed the year with a record high order backlog, up 20 per cent compared with the end of 2013. And we saw a significant increase in sales of our advanced packing formats: 7.1 billion more packs reached the shelves in 2014 than in 2013, offering customers optimal functionality and differentiation,” Tetra Pak President and CEO Dennis Jönsson commented.
