Asif Zardari is not meeting Nawaz Sharif, tweets Bilawal

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday has said that no meeting is being held between Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Bilwal took to twitter and ruled out all the rumours and speculations regarding the meeting.

PPP members also advised Asif Ali Zardari not to meet the premier. The senior members have said that PPP has already faced losses and meeting with PM Nawaz in prevailing circumstances will further damage the party’s image.

Meanwhile, PPP Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira dispelled media reports that PPP President Asif Ali Zardari was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London.

Prime Minister Sharif is in London for a long over-due medical treatment. Opposition leaders Imran Khan and Asif Zardariare also present in the British capital.

“Neither Zardari sahab is in contact with Mian sahab (Prime Minister) nor any political meeting is on agenda,” Kaira told media persons in Islamabad.

He said PPP has dissolved all of its sub committees to reorganize the party.

“PPP is the party of political workers. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is contacting his workers to seek their opinion about the changes,” he said.

To a question, he said that PPP was in touch with opposition parties on the issue of Panama documents.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Britain for a pending medical check-up has set political circles abuzz after he landed in controversy following the Panama Papers leak as PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari is also present there.

Nawaz Sharif’s two sons -- Hassan and Hussain -- are already abroad.

At a time when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan threatened to march toward Nawaz Sharif’s residence in Raiwind, leaders of the opposition had been casting doubt on the reason for the prime minister’s sudden visit to London.

Zardari’s movement in London is also being closely monitored by the media.

Speculations are making rounds that PM Nawaz had went to London to meet Asif Ali Zardari to form a strategy with him to avoid possible threat from opposition, especially by PTI.
