As we approach 14th August, our beloved country’s Independence Day, we are reminded of the great sacrifices made by our forefathers. Countless lives were lost, families were torn apart, and hardships endured so that we could live in a free and independent homeland.

On this day, schools, colleges, universities, and offices across the country will hold programmes to highlight the achievements of Pakistan and the importance of an independent nation. Such events are not only a celebration but also a means to educate our younger generations about the value of freedom and the struggles behind it.

However, Independence Day should not be just about waving flags and singing patriotic songs. It should be a moment for deep reflection on our rights and duties as citizens. While we enjoy the right to freedom, security, and opportunities, we also carry the responsibility to respect the law, contribute to national development, protect public property, and promote unity and tolerance.

If each of us fulfils our duties with sincerity, Pakistan can truly achieve the vision for which it was created. Let this 14th August be not only a day of celebration but also a pledge to work for a stronger, united, and prosperous Pakistan.

SAFIA RAZI,

Karachi.
