LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that no stone would be left unturned for the welfare of the masses and speedy development of the province as all the resources are being spent for provision of facilities to the people at their doorsteps and development projects. He said that workers are our asset, as due to their great sacrifices and struggle the rule of dictatorship was brought to an end. He said that party workers should play their active role for redressing people's problems and actively take part in public welfare projects. The CM was addressing PML office-bearers and workers here on Sunday. Member National Assembly, Hamza Shahbaz was also present on the occasion. The chief minister said that Punjab government, in a very short span of time, took unprecedented measures for the betterment of the province and welfare of the people, which reflects the fact that we are from the people and their service is our mission. Shahbaz said that it is only because of Quaid of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif that Food Support Programme was launched in the province and 1.8 million poor people are benefiting from it while first time provision of roti has been ensured to the masses at Rs2 because we believe that minarets of development have no value, if the roti is not provided to the poor masses at cheaper rate that is why we have taken measures for provision of cheap roti to the masses. He said that revolutionary measures are being taken for provision of modern and standard medical facilities to the people. He said that Kot Khawaja Saeed, Syed Mitha and Nawaz Sharif hospitals will be made as model hospitals and specialist doctors and latest medical equipment will be provided there so that medical facilities could be made available to the residents of these areas close to their houses which will not only result in reducing burden of patients on big hospitals but performance of these hospitals will also improve. Shahbaz said that measures are being taken for providing clean and healthy environment to the citizens by purging the cities of garbage and negotiations are being held with different local and foreign companies in this regard. Steps are being taken to make Lahore a city of gardens, he added. The chief minister said that law of one-dish on marriage ceremonies is strictly implemented so that relief could be provided to the white-collar segment of the society, which is compelled to take loans for the marriages of their daughters and pay it during the rest of their life. Shahbaz said it is an irony that on one hand people are dying with hunger while on the other hand more than twenty dishes are served in wedding ceremonies. He said that we have promoted the culture of austerity and simplicity so that maximum resources could be utilised on the welfare of the masses. He said that government is actively forwarding the mission of public-service and not only welfare projects are being started in the province but measures are also being taken for their quality and timely completion so that people could benefit from their fruits. He said that Muslim League workers should strengthen the party and lend a helping hand in government steps taken for improving living standard of the people and provision of basic facilities to them. The workers on the occasion paid rich tributes to the chief minister for development projects, provision of sasti roti to the people, implementation of one-dish law, removal of encroachments, purging the cities of garbage, provision of potable water and other basic facilities to the people and said that he has proved through his measures that he is 'Khadim-e-Punjab' in the real sense.
