ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday directed the Foreign Ministry to submit report regarding repatriation of actress Sophia Mirza's children from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A two-member SC bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed heard the case. Actress Sophia Mirza had filed petition against her ex-husband Omar Farooq and others for abducting daughters and trafficking them abroad. During the course of proceedings, the Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said that the agency had assured issuance of red and yellow warrants of accused Omar Farooq from the Interpol. The UAE court handed over daughters to father Omar Farooq, he added.

Meanwhile, Justice Maqbool Baqar remarked that the decision of Pakistan's court regarding extradition of daughters came first while the UAE court ruled later over the matter. Justice Qazi Amin remarked that UAE would have to implement Pakistan's court decision. The issue of return of girls would not be resolved in a bureaucratic manner as the Foreign Ministry would have to raise this issue at the bilateral level, he added. He said that the girls should be brought back from UAE.
He said that accused Omar Farooq's assets abroad should be frozen.
