Nadra completes door-to-door survey

MULTAN - At a time when demand for new polls is picking up after every passing day, the country is likely to have 8.8 million new voters as the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has completed its country-wide door-to-door survey, The Nation has learnt.
Out of 8.8 million new eligible voters registered by the Nadra during the recent door-to-door survey, at least 1.7 million are registered in Multan region.
It may not be out of place to mention here that the Nadra had launched this survey on a request made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as the latter was directed by the Supreme Court to ensure completion of verified computerized voter lists till February 23.
Although the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP), Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza has said that the voter lists cannot be completed till February 23, the Nadra sources were confident that the preparation of voter lists would be completed even before the lapse of deadline given by the Supreme Court.
The Nadra had acquired the services of school teachers for the data entry survey and launched data verification and voter registration campaign with the collaboration of ECP. Sources disclosed that the newly registered citizens would also be issued new identity cards soon.
