If govt was truly democratic, it would have held elections: Imran Khan

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that if the government was truly democratic, then it would have held elections by now. During his address in Quetta, Imran Khan said that had the current government came into power through the people and not the NRO, then elections would have been held. Quoting the Supreme Court’s earlier statement about Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani being a “dishonest person”, the PTI chief said that Gilani is “shameless”. If Gilani had some shame, then he would have held the elections, but there is a deficit of shame, Imran Khan said.
The PTI chairman added that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should resign from the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats if it thinks that the government is destroying the country. Predicting that no resignation would be submitted, Imran Khan said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-N are not “ideological parties” and that majority of their members are “opportunists”. “I predict that they will not resign from the Punjab Assembly, even if they resign from the National Assembly.”
