CS for repair, construction of roads and culverts

KARACHI  - Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas, has asked the Secretary Works and Services Department to ensure liaison with the divisional commissioners while working on repair, renovation and construction of roads and culverts etc.He issued these instructions while presiding a meeting to review the pre-cautionary measures for monsoon-2012, here on Thursday. Raja Abbas also emphasized upon strengthening coordination with Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) by the departments of Revenue, Irrigation, Agriculture and Works and Services to furnish the progress of the machinery and equipment and ensure their availability in emergency in consultation with PDMA. Secretary Rehabilitation briefed that training to the concerned staff in various districts enabling the staffers to combat rain and flood. The meeting reviewed the dewatering plan of major towns/cities of Sindh, progress on LBOD (Left Bank Outfall Drain), allotment of funds for relief/rescue operations, Rainee canal, Nara water supply scheme.The meeting also reviewed the PDMAs functions, monsoon hazards in Sindh, pre-monsoon (2012), preparations and food stores available with PDMA.Those who attended the meeting include ACS (Home) Suhail Akbar Shah, ary Irrigation Babar Effendi, Provincial Coordinator PDMA, Syed Faisal Saud, Commissioners of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas and other senior officers.
