KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party has announced the return of its co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in March 2015, saying he would address the public at Garhi Khuda Bux on the eve of 36th death anniversary of the party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on April 4.

The announcement was made by the PPP leaders during the party’s Sindh Council meeting, chaired by PPP Sindh President and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah at the chief minister house on Saturday.

Previously, rumours of differences between the co-chairmen Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emerged despite repeated rejection by both leaders. Party activists were also skeptical regarding the rumours as Bilawal missed public gatherings at PPP foundation day and death anniversary of his mother Benazir Bhutto on December 27 at Garhi Khuda Bux.

The meeting was attended by Senior Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Senator Rehman Malik, PPP Karachi Division President Qadir Patel, General Secretary Najmi Alam, recently elected senators, district presidents and general secretaries of the party in Sindh, MNAs and MPAs from Sindh and others.

According to sources, the party leadership announced the arrival of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari before the Garhi Khuda Bux public gathering and urged the members to initiate campaigning in their areas to give a mammoth reception to the PPP chairman on his return.  The meeting also urged all members to initiate preparations not only for the April 4 public gathering but also for the September 20 local bodies elections in the province.  Addressing the Sindh council members, Qaim Ali Shah said that the party was following the path and philosophy of its founder leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who had laid foundations of democracy in the country and gave awareness to the commoners.  “PPP is the only popular party in the country as its leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had given sacrifices that will be remembered forever,” he said adding that the PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was following the footsteps of the PPP leadership and had strengthened the party.

He said that the PPP Co-chairman followed the reconciliation policy of Benazir Bhutto in the country and due to his political wisdom he led the party to rule in the country for five years. “Even his opponents praise his abilities,” he said.

“It was due to Asif Zardari’s political wisdom that the PPP was able to garner support Senate chairman candidate Raza Rabbani,” he said adding that Rabbani had rendered great services to the party and entire party congratulated him on his unopposed election and pray for his success.

Responding over local bodies elections in the province on September 20, the PPP leader said that the party would actively participate in elections while party office bearers have been directed to complete their homework and launch a campaign for the elections.

He said that the PPP had carried out record development works during its recent and past tenures in the province.
