ATC asks jail superintendent to release Farooqi

Rawalpindi - An anti-terrorism court (ATC) yesterday directed superintendent of Adiala Jail to release Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi, central leader of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), if he was not involved in any other case. The judge accepted surety bonds worth Rs 100,000 and two personal sureties and ordered release of Farooqi as the court had earlier accepted his bail plea.
The ATC accepted post-arrest bail plea of Farooqi on June 24, 2015 in the case of delivering hate speech during a Friday sermon in Wah Cannt. He was held by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on June 6, 2015.
The ATC accepted his bail plea and directed Farooqi to furnish a surety bond worth Rs100, 000 along with two personal sureties. The accused, however, submitted the sureties yesterday. Farooqi was indicted by ATC on July 7, 2015.
