Govt determined to promote cultural activities, says Buzdar

| Punjab celebrates culture day

LAHORE    -  Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar attended a special ceremony held in connection with Punjab Culture Day celebrated across the province on Sunday.   

Turbans’ galore was the hallmark of the event as all the participants were dressed up in a traditional way to mark the day.  Provincial Minister for Culture Khayal Ahmed Kastro presented Punjab’s traditional turban to the Chief Minister.  Usman Buzdar gave traditional turban to the Khayal Ahmed Kastro and advisor to PM Barrister Shehzad Akbar.  The Chief Minister said that Punjab’s culture was rich in traditions and deeply rooted in history. 

He said Punjabis had their own unique identity everywhere they live in the world. “Celebrating and remembering culture and traditions is a sign of the nations which took pride in their history as cultural festivals reflect the identity and individuality of each region”, he stated. Usman Buzdar further said that the government was promoting cultural activities under the new coronavirus SOPs for providing recreational activities to the people. 

“Punjab is unique as it is the hub of multifaceted cultures.  Love, peace, brotherhood, unity and tolerance are the hallmarks of the culture of Punjab and the purpose of celebrating Punjab Culture Day is to promote all these values. Only those nations flourish which promotes their culture. The culture of Punjab has colours of affection, hospitality and kindness”, he stated.

He also lauded the role of Directorate General Public Relations for promoting the culture of Punjab. Adviser to the Prime Minister Barrister Shehzad Akbar, Provincial Minister for Culture Khayal Ahmed Kastro, Additional Chief Secretary Irum Bukhari, Secretary Information and Culture Raja Jahangir Anwar, DGPR Saman Rai, DG PILAC Sughra Sadaf, Executive Director Al-Hamra Dr Aslam Dogar, Director Al-Hamra Arts Council Zulfiqar Zulfi, Executive Director Pukar Rizwan Sharif, Director Lahore Museum Ijaz Minhas and concerned officials participated.
