Candidates submit papers for mayorship of Lakki tehsils

Lakki marwat   -  A large number of candidates have filed nomination papers for tehsil mayor in four tehsils of Lakki Marwat district. 

In tehsil Lakki Marwat, 25 candidates are in the run for the slot of mayor. They have submitted nomination papers with the returning officer/additional assistant commissioner Wahid Ahmad Mughal. 

Prominent among them are former tehsil nazims Advocate Faridullah Khan Meenakhel and Hidayatullah Khan, former MPA Zafrullah Khan, PTI’s district general secretary Shafqatullah Khan Khoidadkhel, JUI-F former tehsil naib nazim Advocate Hafiz Asif Salim and former district councillor Fawad Ahmad Khan Ahmadkhel. 

There are 20 candidates to grab the seat of mayor in tehsil Ghaznikhel. Prominent among those who filed nomination with returning officer/additional assistant commissioner Ishaq Ali Khan include former nazims Malik Idrees Khan and Malik Nazir Khan, Jamil Khan of Bakhmal Ahmadzai and Zeshan Muhammad Khan. 

In tehsil Serai Naurang, 17 aspirants have filed documents with the returning office/additional assistant commissioner Aminullah Khan for the post of mayor.   They include Haji Azizullah Khan of Jamat-e-Islami, a prominent social activist and lawyer Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Nawabzada Jamil Khan and Ihsanullah Khan and others. 

In tribal subdivision Betanni, a total of 12 candidates are in the run for the seat of mayor. They include Ashfaq Khan Betanni, Zahurud Din, Asif Majeed, Akhtar Gul, Masoordur Rehman, Ghafoor Shah and others. 

Meanwhile, over two thousand candidates have filed nomination papers for the seats of general, youth, peasant, women and minority councillors in 101 village and neighbourhood councils in the district. 

A total 1277 aspirants are in the run for the general seats, 347 for women seats and 422 for peasant/worker seats while 360 candidates will contest elections for the seats of youth councillor and seven for minority seats.
