MIRPUR (AJK)-AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan Friday expressed his government’s resolve to complete the incomplete projects of reconstruction programme in the earthquake hit areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

“The federal government will be approached for the requisite funds to completion all the ongoing development projects in the quack-devastated in Muzaffarabad and other districts of AJK,” Farooq Haider reiterated the resolve after a briefing given by ERRA chairman (r) Maj-Gen Asghir Nawaz on Reconstruction Programme here at Prime Minister’s Secretariat in the capital town on Friday.

The AJK PM said that people of the State would never forget the invaluable cooperation and sympathies extended by the people of Pakistan after the devastating earthquake in 2005.

Farooq Haider said that hundreds of hospitals and educational institutions were destroyed in deadly earthquake.

On the occasion, the ERRA chairman informed the participants of the meeting that the authority is not getting funds according to the needs that’s why the ERRA is facing difficulties in completing the on-going projects.

“We got 22,11,07 and 10 percent funds against the total demand in year 2012-13 to 2015-16 respectively,” he pointed out.

Earlier, the ERRA DG in his briefing said that under the ERRA’s vision (Build, Back, Better) 7,743 projects were designed out of which 5,237 projects have been completed and handed over to the relevant departments.

The AJK Premier reviewed the progress on projects under the ERRA and was briefed on development activities covering roads, schools, health and municipal schemes.

Minister for Information Mushtaq Minhas, Minister for Forest Mir Akbar, Minister for Social Welfare Noreen Arif, Minister for Education Barrister Iftikhar Gillani, members AJK Legislative Assembly Ch Shahzad Ahmed and Dr Mustafa Bashir, AJK Chief Secretary Sikandar Sultan Raja, ACS (d) Syed Asif Shah, Secretary Electricity Fayyaz Ali Abbasi, Secretary SERRA Sardar Zafar Khan and others high ranking officials were also present in the briefing.
