Rawalpindi-A case has been registered against a police officer on charges of not initiating timely action against land mafia involved in grabbing land of a citizen and hiding the occurrence of incident from senior officers, informed a police spokesman on Wednesday.
The case was lodged against the accused police officer identified as Sub Inspector Arshad Kalim with Police Station (PS) Rawat under section 155c of The Police Order 2002 following instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Shehzad Nadim Bukhari, he said.
According to him, Syed Muhammad Zohaib Arif, SHO PS Rawat, submitted a complaint stating it came into his knowledge after reviewing a copy of First Information Report (FIR) dated 14/9/2022 and inquiring from moharar of police station that the Duty Officer SI Arshad Kalim had not brought the occurrence of incident into notice of senior officers despite receiving an application on September 12.
He added the incident took place due to negligence and slackness of the said SI who apparently hid the facts of the case for bribes and misusing of his authority. Therefore, a case against the DO/SI Arshad Kalim should be registered as per law. Following the complaint, submitted by the SHO, the police registered a case against the accused police officer and began investigation.
Meanwhile, CPO Syed Shehzad Nadim Bukhari also took notice of the incident and placed the SI Arshad Kalim under suspension. He said that there is no room for the black sheep in the police department. He said that strict action would be taken against those police officers found involved in any such activity.
