ISLAMABAD    -   The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders lashed out at the government led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for allegedly running an organised and planned campaign by using religion to spread hatred against party chairman Imran Khan for “vested political mileage.”

Addressing a press conference along with PTI senior leaders Iftikhar Durrani and Noorul Haq Qadri here on Wednesday, PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser said that Khan was at present at the height of his popularity.

He said that PTI was the only party which signified unity today because it had members from all religious sects and cultures.

He came down hard on PML-N leader and federal minister Javed Latif’s statements which, he said, were aimed at instigating religious hatred among the people, which was condemnable.

Asad Qaiser said that a man like Latif spreads religious hatred to, which is condemnable, adding that PTI has become the largest party in the country.

Qaiser said that the government has failed to perform, as economy was in a shambles and lives of the people were made a hell, as they were not able to pay their electricity bills what to talk of fulfilling their others needs. He said that therefore the PML-N leadership resorted to such campaign to hide their incompetence and failure.

Former speaker National Assembly Qaiser said that PTI decided that it would hold Ulema Conferences in all provinces and this heinous act would be condemned. He added that PTI believed that religious hatred should not be spread against anyone, as the PML-N was trying to create riots in the country by using state resources.

However, he told the PML-N leaders that this campaign would not serve their purpose, as Imran Khan was living in the hearts of the people, whose services for Islam were in front of the entire nation.

Asad Qaiser said that for the first time in history, former prime minister Khan spoke about Islamophobia in the United Nations and through his efforts, the day against Islamophobia was announced, which is a great effort.

Qadri, speaking on the occasion, said that he did not join Imran Khan just for his political ideology but also his religious ideology. He added that the policies formed during the PTI government’s tenure were a proof of his love and respect towards the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Qadri stated that the war being waged by the government was very dangerous as it would create divisions and violence. “These are the people who want to spread hatred and chaos in the land,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Durrani said that the government was violating the National Action Plan and Constitution by spreading religious hatred.

“Today, the incumbent government is complicit in this crime through Javed Latif. I seriously condemn it. The foundation of the PML-N is based on dictatorship, as they have never fought any battle through democracy,” he added.

He said that whenever their political opponents become powerful, they always indulged in personal attacks, adding that PML-N had always resorted to personal attacks on khan.

Durrani also castigated the chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for not stopping television channels from airing Latif’s press conference.

“I request all the channels that aired this presser that a very dangerous and heinous game is being played by some of PML-N people and Latif is one of them,” he added.

Durrani warned the PML-N that if he started doing these things, they would not be able to leave their houses.
