LAHORE - The last rituals of prominent Pakistani fighter pilot and educationist Group Caption (r) Cecil Chaudhry were performed officially by Pakistan Air Force at PAF Airbase here on Sunday.
A large number of people including Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief of Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique, former chiefs of PAF, PAF senior officers and a son and two brothers as well as other family members of Cecil Chaudhry attended the last rituals. Shahbaz Sharif and the Air Chief laid floral wreaths on the coffin of late Cecil Chaudhry. Sural Chaudhry and Anthony Chaudhry, brothers Cecil Chaudhry and his son Cecil Chaudhry Junior also laid flowers on the coffin. Christian religious leaders offered prayers for the departed soul of Cecil Chaudhry.
At the end, the services of late Cecil Chaudhry with regard to defence of motherland were eulogised. A smartly turned out contingent of PAF saluted the coffin. Cecil Chaudhary died on Friday due to lung cancer at the age of 71. He was born in a Christian family. He was son of F E Chaudhry, a veteran photo journalist.
After his retirement from Air Force in 1986, Cecil Chaudhry worked as human rights activist and educationist. He served as principal of St Anthony’s College for several years.
