KESC pins hopes on new projects

KARACHI - The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is receiving positive results out of the under progress implementation of SCADA in its systems. Addressing a media briefing, Ayesha Eirabie, director corporate communications, said that the high technology monitoring system, when completed, would bring visible improvement in the distribution system as well as enhancing the services of the Company to its consumers. She said that the utility had been carrying out planned shutdowns for the conversion process to SCADA and at 2:00pm on Saturday, 13MWs power was interrupted in limited areas of the City for a limited duration of about 30 minutes, while 60MWs had not been supplied because of maintenance work going on at Bin Qasim Power Station. Therefore the KESC had been supplying 2,134 MWs of electricity against a total demand of 2,207 MWs, adding that both the constraints are expected to be resolved by Saturday evening. During the previous 24 hours, 17 main cable faults had been repaired while no major tripping had taken place in the City. Constraints at Manghopir and Mauripur had also been resolved, she said.
