Lahore - Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has commended the force for ensuring excellent security arrangements on Independence Day. IG Punjab appreciated the CCPO Lahore and DIG Operations Lahore for the peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations. He said that RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, and other senior officers demonstrated outstanding performance. A strict crackdown by Punjab Police against various violations of law, including one-wheeling and aerial firing, has been ongoing during Independence Day celebrations.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 277 lawbreakers were arrested across the province, and 249 cases were registered. Across the province, 162 accused were arrested for one-wheeling, and 147 cases were registered. In cases of aerial firing, 13 accused were arrested and 13 cases were registered. For silencer modification and other violations, 102 accused were arrested, and 89 cases were registered. In the provincial capital Lahore, 92 lawbreakers were arrested, and 89 cases were registered for various violations. IG Punjab had issued orders for indiscriminate action against one-wheeling, aerial firing, and hooliganism on Independence Day.
