Punjab CM leaves for Japan on first official visit

LAHORE  -  Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has left for a five-day official visit to Japan on a special invitation of the Japanese government.

Senior officers bid farewell to the chief minister at Lahore Airport on Friday. The delegation also comprises Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bokhari, Provincial Ministers Malik Sohaib Bherth and Zeeshan Rafique, Special Assistant to the CM Sania Ashiq, and other high-ranking government officials.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif is the first woman chief minister to make an official visit to Japan. Her schedule involves visits to Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama, where she will attend the World Expo in Osaka, have meetings with high-ranking Japanese government authorities, and visit institutions.

At the beginning of her foreign trip, the chief minister landed in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand. She was warmly welcomed by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Thailand Rukhsana Afzal and senior Thai government officials who also greeted her and the Punjab government delegation.
