Pakistan eye another clean sweep

KARACHI - With the 3-match series in the bag, Pakistan will be looking for another clean sweep when they host West Indies in the 3rd T20I in Karachi today (Thursday).
Since the T20 World Cup heartbreak, Men in Green have been in terrific form. They completed a 3-0 sweep in the T20I series and a 2-0 sweep in the Test series against Bangladesh in their own backyard. Coming back home, they scripted history with 18 T20I victories in the calendar year.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is going through a lean patch and his form will be in the spotlight today. In the T20Is series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan skipper scored 27 runs at an average of 9.00. In the two games played against West Indies, he has struck 0 & 7 respectively and will be itching to go big in the 3rd and final game T20I against West Indies.
Although the skipper has been off-colour, it hasn’t impacted the performance of the team. The likes of M Rizwan, Haider Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan have chipped in with game-changing performances from time to time. However, the Men in Green are likely to give chances to some of the fringe players. Shahnawaz Dahani is the first name that can get on the list of Thursday’s playing XI.
On the other hand, the visitors West Indies looked much improved in the second game. They bowled in the right areas and managed to restrict the host to an achievable total. In the batting, too they were right on the money before Shaheen Shah Afridi’s one over completely changed the dynamics. They still need to fill in a couple of spots especially in the batting order. They clearly missed a finisher in the 2nd game. The middle-order has looked fragile in both games and the skipper Nicholas Pooran, too needs to take some more responsibilities.
