Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has submitted application in Supreme Court for removing the ban on YouTube, Waqt News reported. “A local version of YouTube has been launched in which there isn't any objectionable material,” the application said.
According to media sources PTA has stated in its case that that any objectionable material can be removed easily as it will be a local version of the social media site.
YouTube was banned in Pakistan in 2012 after a videos deemed to be 'anti-Islamic' and 'offensive to Muslims' was uploaded. Pakistan government requested the YouTube authorities to remove the video, but the request was not obliged.
