ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has failed to convince PML-Q Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa President Amir Muqam to get back in the Federal Cabinet, during the meeting held at Prime Ministers House when the latter called on the former. Sources aware of the deliberations of the meeting informed The Nation that replying to the Premiers offer, Muqam said that he had not quit the cabinet on portfolio issue as portfolios were of little significance to him and insisted that he had tendered resignation on principles and would not take back his decision. According to the press release issued by the Prime Ministers media section, Gilani while commiserating with MNA Amir Muqam on the loss of innocent lives and injuries to many in the suicide attack just before the start of his public rally, said that these cowardly acts could not deter the government from pursuing the policy to root out the terrorists from the country. The Prime Minister said that enlightened political leadership of the country has been deliberately targeted by the militants as they urge restraint and talk reason. He said that it clearly shows the intention and agenda of the terrorists who are against the development and progress of the country. The Prime Minister appreciated the political leadership of the country for their steadfastness against the anti-state elements. He specially mentioned Amir Muqam for his continued efforts to work for the welfare of the people of Kohistan and other remote region of the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa despite several threats from the militants.
