4 of a family among 9 die in Gujranwala road mishaps

GUJRANWALA At least nine persons including four of a family were killed and 20 others injured in two separate road accidents in Saroki and Chenab Nagar areas here on Tuesday. As per details, a flying coach heading towards Rawalpindi from Hafizabad collided against a truck while overtaking another vehicle at Alipur Chattha Road near Saroki village. The collision destroyed both vehicles and drivers of the flying coach and truck Tofiq Ahmad and Zaman along with Nazia Bibi, her daughter Fida and two nephews Usman and Fraz succumbed to injuries on the spot. 20 passengers also sustained injuries in the accident and hospitalised in DHQ Hospital, Gujranwala and THQ Hospital, Wazirabad. The injured include Mahboob, Aslam, Niaz, Ishrat Bibi, Sana, Faisal, Allah Ditta, Tariq, Gulshan, Salman, Zakia Bibi, Farzana, Raheela, Zahid, Hassan, Riaz Muhammad, Yasin and Asif. After the incident, Saddr Wazirabad police reached the spot, removed the bodies and rushed the injured to the hospitals. Agencies add: Three persons were killed in another road mishap at Chenab Nagar when a truck ran over a rickshaw, police sources said. The truck driver managed to flee from the scene.
