JAP demands extending operation to DI Khan

KARACHI - Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan (JAP) demanded of the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan to immediately extend ongoing anti-terrorists operation to Dera Ismail Khan where more than 126 Shia Muslims were assassinated since March 2008 to date. Addressing a Press conference on Friday, former senator Allama Abbas Kumaili, the alliances chief, said that government must fulfil the alliances demand in one month. Punish the terrorists and their patrons and the abettors for genocide of Shia Muslims without any discrimination, he added. Maulana Hussain Massodi, Allama Aftab Jaffari, Maulana Azhar Naqvi, Salman Mujtaba and Shabar Raza were also present on the occasion. He warned that if the government would not order for the operation against the terrorists and militants in the DI Khan, Jaffaria Alliance would call for a countrywide protest. Coffin-wearing Shiites from all over Pakistan will march to DI Khan and will stage sit-in against the terrorism and the government for lack of action against terrorists. Allama Kumaili further said that they would adopt all appropriate measures to raise their voice against the genocide of Shiites. We will have to exercise our right to contact foreign ambassadors, international human rights organisations, and other forums to inform them about the genocide of Shiites, he announced. He also demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take suo moto action against the killings of Shia Muslims. He pointed out that a large number of Taliban militants of Bannu and Malakand were migrating to the DI Khan where, he said, the civil administration and police officials support Taliban. We support the initiative of PM Yousuf Raza Gilani against the Taliban terrorists and militants. We appeal to our Pakistani brothers to support the anti-terrorists operation without any discrimination of colour and cast, he urged. Allama Kumaili appreciated the just position of Sunni scholars and custodians of shrines against the Taliban brand Shariah. Sunni scholars and custodians have taken a courageous stand against the enemies of Islam and Pakistan. We extend our hand of friendship to them, he said. He recalled that killings of Sunni and Shia Muslims were started in the 1980s when military dictator Ziaul Haq, a US ally, was in power. He said that remnants of Gen Zia continued to play their dirty game. He also criticised the US for its support to the terrorists. He asked the ANPs NWFP government why they were silent against the target killings of Shiites in the DI Khan. Referring to the blockade of Kurram Agency Parachanar by the Taliban, he said that more than 0.7 million population of Kurram Agency suffering from the blockade for the last two years. He cited that the peace accord between the both local groups have remained inapplicable due to the interference of Taliban. He regretted that government had failed to protect life, respect and properties of its citizens living in Kurram Agency. On one hand, media turned a blind eye to the plights of residents of Kurram Agency and on the other hypothesis and theories were being circulated as if the Kurram Agency was being helped from the outsiders, he said. Kumaili said that points leading to Kurram Agency were occupied by Taliban terrorists and their allies. He asked the theory-makers to tell how they can get food and medicines. He said that Kurram Agency was encircled and was turned into an open-air jail for its residents for a long time. He said that people of Kurram Agency too need humanitarian help and relief like the IDPs.
