Security for Imam Barri Urs reviewed

ISLAMABAD-Islamabad Capital Territory Administration will install CCTV Cameras, walkthrough gates and set up a control room at the premises of Hazrat Barri Imam shrine for round-the-clock monitoring of the activities during the five-day Urs ceremonies starting from June 07. Security arrangements for the annual Urs of Hazrat Barri Imam were reviewed at a meeting held in the premises of Hazral Barri Imam under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner ICT Asadullah Faiz on Friday. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Traffic Sultan Azam Taimuri, Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area Asim Ayub, AC Secretariat Farid-ud-Din, DHO ICT Dr Amirzada Khan, Secretary ITA Bashir Ahmed, Magistrate Rural and official from CDA, IESCO, Civil Defence and Auqaf Department ICT attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed at length the arrangements being made for the annual Urs of Hazrat Barri starting from June 7,2009 at Noor Pur Shan. The meeting was informed that special comprehensive foolproof security, traffic, parking and transport arrangements were underway including installation of CCTV Cameras, Walk through gates and setting up control room at the premises of shrine for round the clock monitoring of the activities during the 5 days Urs ceremonies. The meeting was informed that Auqaf Department ICT has made elaborate arrangements for the devotees. attending the Urs ceremonies. District Health Department ICT will set up 3 dispensaries for round the clock medical coverage of devotees.CDA will also provide drinking water facilities during Urs days through water tanker service and water filtration plant will also start functioning before the Urs. It was informed that heavy contingents of police in uniform and plain cloth will be deployed around the vicinity of shrine during days. Civil Defence volunteers will also be deployed. Moreover ambulances and fire-brigade vehicles will also remain present in the vicinity. Combing and sweeping will also be carried out in the premises and vicinity of shrine. CDA ambulance 1122 service will also be activated for providing quick service to the devotees. Deputy Commissioner ICT Asadullah Faiz also directed the officials to arrange the generators as stand bye arrangements in case of load-shedding. Flood lights will be installed at the premises to get clear view and metal detectors will be used for entry and security purpose. The meeting also reviewed lungar and boarding arrangements for the devotees.
