KARACHI – Three MQM activists were among seven persons killed in different acts of violence in various parts of the City here on Tuesday.

According to details, a former Councillor of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Haq Parast was shot dead in PECHS Society, Tariq Road within the precincts of Ferozabad police station. The victim 38-year-old Anwar Alam alias Babu Bhai son of Muhammad Naeem was the resident of PECHS Society block 2.

DSP Ghulam Murtaza Malik said victim was giving water in Usman play ground near his home, when two armed men reached the site on motorcycle and opened firing on him.

Resultantly, he received two bullets and succumbed to his injuries on the way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medical treatment.

Tension prevailed in Khalid Bin Waleed Road, Tipu Sultan Road and adjacent areas after the attack.

Unidentified persons resorted to aerial firing. All major shops and markets of Tariq Road and Bahadurabad were shut down.

The victim was the active worker of Unit 63 and former Councillor of UC-7.

Police found two other MQM workers bodies packed in gunny bags from two different areas.

The first body was found from Memon graveyard situated at Malir Cantt area. Police rushed to the spot and took the body to hospital.

Police official said victim received a bullet on his head and had several torture marks. The victim was later identified as 33-year-old Muhammad Azhar Ali son of Jan Muhammad and was resident of Gulshan-e-Maymar sector 51-1 area. Separately, police found another gunny bag body near from Ganna Mandi Super Highway Sohrab Goth area.

The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Kamran Ali son of Masood Ali resident of sector 51-1 Gulshan Maymar area.

Sohrab Goth DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said both victims were kidnapped on Monday from Maymar area and their bodies were thrown later. He said both victims were the active workers of MQM Ahsanabad Unit Gulshan Maymar sector.

After getting the information of dual murder of MQM activists, scores of MQM workers rushed to JPMC and chanted slogans against the worst law and order situation.

Separately a man was killed in sectarian violence at inquiry office Nazimabad in the limits of Nazimabad police station.

The victim 32-year-old Syed Mehdi Raza son of Askari Raza was the resident of sector 5-C-1 New Karachi.

The deceased was going to offer prayers at Jamia Imamia Imambargah situated at Nazimabad No 2 near inquiry office, when two armed men reached on motorcycle and sprayed bullets on him.

He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

SHO Iqbal Sheikh said that victim was working in printing Press in Nazimabad area. His funeral prayers were offered in Imambargah Aal-e-Muhammad after Maghrib prayers and later he was buried in Wadi Salam graveyard.

President Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) Karachi Muhammad Mehdi strongly condemned the killing of Mehdi Raza and demanded of the government to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Shia people, adding, that around 36 Shia people were killed in the current year.

In another incident, police found a body of a man from Bakra Piri Malir in the jurisdiction of Malir City police station.

Police found two bodies of youth from Ilyas Goth Korangi in the limits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. The identities of victims are yet to be ascertained while police found their bodies from bushes near Navy building in Korangi sector 51-B Ilyas Goth.

No case was registered till filing of this report.
