PESHAWAR - Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Climate Change, Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar at the Governor’s House here on Tuesday. Provincial Minister for Finance Muhammad Hamayoun Khan was also present on this occasion.They discussed various matters pertaining to effects of climate change and environmental protection and the Federal Minister highlighted the steps underway at the Federal level for ensuring better climatic conditions in the country. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the importance of forests and afforestation to ensure better living conditions for the people. The climatic change, it was observed, deserves to be taken as a serious issue and keeping in view the suitable ecological and climatic conditions for promotion of forests in the province, every possible step is being taken for the development of forests.Referring to various points highlighted by the Federal Minister for Climate Change, the Governor welcomed the enthusiastic approach of the Federal Ministry of Climate Change and said that no effort will be spared to materialize them.  A delegation of coalmines workers, hailing from district Shangla, aosl called on the Governor and apprised him of the problems being faced by them. A member of the provincial assembly from Shangla, Rashad Khan who accompanied the delegation particularly invited the attention of the Governor towards ensuring safety and security of the mine workers at their work places and urged him to help them addressing their problems.Meanwhile, Ambassador of France in Pakistan, Philippe Thiebaud, called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar at Governor’s House here on Tuesday. He remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the situation in the region. The prevailing situation with regard to the pace of progress on the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts of the government in the terrorism and militancy hit areas also came under discussion and the Governor highlighted the achievements in this respect.
