Meeting held





LAHORE–A meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Mrs. Anusha Rahman MNA, convener of the Legal committee, Chief Minister Women Empowerment Package, 2012. The meeting attended by Secretary Women Development Department, Additional Secretary (Development) Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Director L&PA, Law Department, and Director Women Development, reviewed implementation and progress of the CM Women Empowerment Package, 2012.
The Committee reported significant advancement on draft bills, including Punjab Vulnerable Victims of Violence (Prevention, Protection, Compensation and Rehabilitation) Bill; adaptation and corresponding amendments in Poisons Act, 1919; Policy on the Home based Workers; Adaptation of Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act; Pertaining to women Inheritance rights amendments in Land Revenue Act and Rules, substitution of Partition Act relating to Partition of Urban Properties drafted with a view to ensure that women get their due share in their inherited properties within a shortest possible time. It is expected that all these draft legislations will soon be introduced in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab. All other policy directives of the Chief Minister Punjab in this regard have also been satisfactorily pursued and implemented.
It may be recalled that the Women Empowerment Package was announced by the Chief Minister Punjab on 8th of March 2012, to empower women economically, socially and politically by increasing their representation in all fora and safeguarding their fundamental rights.
