Taliban release video tape of Bannu raid




BANNU  - The Taliban have released a video of the Bannu attack, showing Hakimullah Mehsud briefing his squad about the onslaught. The 34-minute tape also contains messages of Adnan Rasheed, who was allegedly involved in plotting the murder of former president Pervez Musharraf. The video, which is being sold in various areas of North Waziristan and South Waziristan, shows Hakimullah Mehsud briefing his team on different routes leading to the Bannu jail as well as its inside situation with the help of a map.  The video tape shows some 150 fighters including Hakimullah Mehsud and Waliur Rehman gathered at one place and devise a strategy to attack the jail and attacked the jail with heavy weaponry without facing resistance from police.  The post-attack scenes show the Taliban celebrating jailbreak and congratulating Adnan Rasheed for managing escape. All the top militants demanded the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.  Adnan Rasheed stated in a video tape he was certain that his friends would release him from imprisonment some day.  No response has been observed yet from the sides of police authorities and provincial government. On April 15, more than 150 Taliban stormed the Central Jail in Bannu and get away with 384 prisoners in a pre-dawn assault.
