According to George Santayana, “Only the dead can see the end of war.” Living in the subcontinent—especially in Pakistan or India—one must understand that war should never be celebrated. It brings nothing but disaster and suffering, especially for ordinary citizens. Mr Modi must realise that if India repeats its actions from last week, a nuclear war may not be far off.
Before pushing the region into further chaos, the Indian leadership should reflect on the history of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If there is credible evidence of Pakistani involvement in the Pahalgam attack, present it to the world. Otherwise, this looks like yet another theatrical stunt for electoral gain. Sane voices must prevail on both sides.
