Curfew in Rawalpindi to remain imposed till 12 am

The curfew which was enforced here in Rawalpindi at 12.00 am on Friday night will remain imposed till 12.00 am Saturday night.
Curfew was imposed in Potohar Town, Rawal Town and Cantonment areas after violent clashes between two groups. At least seven people were killed and 35 others were injured on Friday. The clashes erupted when a mourners’ procession was on its way through Fawara Chowk in the town.
According to a Punjab government spokesperson, the curfew was imposed to bring the situation under control following the deadly clashes and the subsequent unrest. As Army and Rangers took control,  roads of the city including main Murree Road were also blocked with containers while mobile phone services will remain suspended as a security measure.
The district administration has warned the citizens to stay at homes as violation of curfew will not be tolerated.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif had directed Commissioner Rawalpindi and Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi to submit a detailed report into the clashes.
