HYDERABAD - The Sindh local government department announced on Saturday that no executive authority at federal and provincial level would launch any development project or use state resources in local government elections with intention to influence voters in favour of a particular candidate.

According to the April 14 announcement, no transfers or postings of government officers or officials, including those of autonomous bodies or authorities shall be made without prior approval of the election commission till the publication of election results of the division for which election schedule has been issued.

The notification said that no government officers or officials would be granted leave after issuance of election schedule without prior approval of the commission and in case the leave had already been sanctioned, the officer would not relinquish his charge without approval of the commission.

If any person in government service misused his official position in any manner in order to influence election results, he would be liable to be proceeded against under relevant law, it said.

The first phase of LG elections would be held in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas divisions on June 26, it said.
