RAWALPINDI - Inaugural ceremony of Old Gordonians Association (OGA) was held at the Gordon College Rawalpindi where the website of the association was also launched.
Many former faculty members, ex-principal Prof Gulzar, Head of Departments’ including Prof Sultan Khan, Prof Nisar Siddique, Prof Nazir Zaidi, Prof Amir Joya, Prof Hafees Mirza, prominent old Gordonians including Malik Shakeel Awan - MNA PML-N, Col (retd) Subh Sadiq Malik - DG NAB, journalists, educationists, and people belonging to different walks of life gave their appearance in the ceremony.
Some very old and prominent faculty members including Prof Sajjad Seikh (Vice-Principal), Prof Nasrullah Malik and Prof Aftab Iqbal Shamim couldn’t come due to their health, however, they participated in the ceremony through their multimedia video messages.
The ceremony started with recitation of the Holy Quran. Later, the members of the Organizing Board of OGA were nominated and took the oath followed by the speech of the Patron Dr. Abdul Qayum Bhatti (Principal Gordon College) and multimedia presentation by Mr Amad Raja (President OGA).
Amad-ud-din Raja, while giving presentation in the ceremony, stressed upon the importance of Old Gordonians Association, which was severely needed to regain the past glorious image of the college by preserving its prestigious heritage and history.
He further added that OGA would be an ideal platform to reunite the alumni, which is needed not only to bridge the gap between alumni and alma-mater but also for the resource mobilization for various development initiatives for students and college.
Malik Shakeel Awan - MNA PMLN, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Old Gordonians Association (OGA) and its website www.gordonians.org. While addressing, he said that he had been an active Gordonian during his studies in Gordon College.
He had been taking part in all the constructive co-curricular.
