Magsi flays law and order in Balochistan

QUETTA - Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has said that law and order situation in the province was not upto the mark as province was confronted with various problems. He stated this while talking to media personnel on the eve of 4th Convocation of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) here on Tuesday. He said without eliminating politics from the educational institutions quality of education could not be improved. 'Students should pay more heed towards their education instead of doing politics', he added. He outrightly rejected the claims of military drive in Balochistan and said 'according to my knowledge there is no military drive in any part of the province'. Govt wants to resolve the issue through political means and steps were on in this regard, he said. Talking about financial crisis, he said financial crisis had gripped the world including Pakistan and certainly Balochistan was also not safe from its affects. Responding to a question, he said that govt had distributed all relief goods amongst earthquake affectees properly. However, he said that a new survey would be conducted in those areas where people have reservations. He said that the problem of Balochistan could not be solved within few months rather it would take some time. Earlier, addressing 4th convocation of BUITEMS,he said he was proud to be amongst those talented young men and women who had got the fruit of their hard work. 'No doubt BUITEMS is a model institution of higher education. I heartily congratulate Vice Chancellor and his learned faculty on the accomplishment of a valuable task', he said ,adding, I could explicitly foresee that this university would develop into one of the renowned universities of the country. He congratulated new graduates who received their degrees and medals and wished them greater success in future. He also congratulated Vice Chancellor, for his very able management team and highly capable and knowledgeable faculty members on their achievement in the form of producing competent and forward looking builders of the future. Addressing on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Engineer Farooq Bazai said that we at BUITEMS were constantly focusing on creating the culture of research and inquisitive learning. He said our vision is focused amongst the leading universities of the world-accessible to all, imparting quality education and promoting cutting edge research. He said, 'I am pleased to bring on record that within a short period of 6 years we have brought about a radical change in the concept of education. We have been inviting researchers, educationists, scholars, scientists and intellectuals of national and international fame to address our students and faculty members'. He congratulated the graduating students on their successful accomplishments. Earlier, Governor Magsi who is also Chancellor of BUITEMS conferred degrees among 400 male and female students besides awarding gold medals to 15 students. Governor also announced Rs 100,000 for each graduating student who obtained gold medals.
