LAHORE - A group of lawyers locked a courtroom of a sessions judge for not granting a bail to a businessman allegedly involved in Rs 35 million cheque dishonor case on Monday.

The sources seeking anonymity told this scribe that  Adeeb Aslam Bhindar, newly elected secretary of Lahore Bar Association, appeared in the court of Judge Chaudhary Farrukh Hussain as a counsel of a suspect involved in cheque dishonor case of worth Rs35m.

They said that as the proceedings commenced, the judge asked him to argue on the merits of the case, however, the lawyers demanded the bail of the accused.

However, the judge refused to grant bail upon which the lawyers got angry and they used a derogatory language against the judge. The sources said that the lawyers locked the courtroom.

When this scribe contacted LBA president Ch Ishtiaq he denied such incident saying that no office bearer was involved in misbehaving the judge or locking the courtroom. However, he said, they would hold a meeting on this issue today (Tuesday).
