LAHORE - Former British Minister and House of Lords Member Baroness Saeeda Warsi met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, on Monday. Matters of mutual interest and measures for solution of the problems of overseas Pakistanis were discussed during the meeting.

The chief minister said that there are close friendly relations between Pakistan and Britain. He said that Pakistan considers Britain as its real development partner and Britain is also a major trade partner of Pakistan. He said that Britain has played a commendable role in the progress of Pakistan. The chief minister lauded the efforts of Warsi for the strengthening of relations between Pakistan and Britain. Referring to the setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission, he said that Pakistanis living abroad are ambassadors of the country. He said that Overseas Pakistanis Commission will play an important role in resolving problems of overseas Pakistanis.  The chief minister said that the Punjab government had given legal status to Overseas Pakistanis Commission and it would take effective measures to redress the grievances of Pakistanis living in other countries. He said that overseas Pakistanis were earning huge foreign exchange for their country through their hard work and playing a significant role in the strengthening of national economy.

Warsi congratulated Shahbaz for the discovery and certification of precious mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa.
