Beggars wander in Sheikhupura

SHEIKHUPURA - Beggars roam in the city and its adjoining areas, posing serious risk for security, while the police have not been paying heed to the issue, according to a survey conducted by TheNation.
A number of beggars have been wandering in the city areas, including Main Bazaar, Civil Quarter Road, Missile Chowk, Batti Chowk, Stadium Shopping Centre, and the railway station.
Moreover, they visit the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospitals freely. Some crimes were reported, however, no beggar was arrested in this connection.
Police said most of the baggers are junkie and they cannot “afford such arrests.”
“We avoid arresting junkies as the police lockup cannot afford them,” he added. At Batti Chowk and its adjoining areas, many people, especially visitors were robbed of women beggars. The area people and social circles demanding the district administration take strict action against them which is open challenge not for the society but also for the administration.
